In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Aug. 16, against the town and ambulance service, Robert Alix claims serious injuries and trauma resulting from the abuse at the hands of Alejandro Ramirez. His suit is for $15,000 in damages from a combination of the town and Monroe Emergency Medical Services, according to CT Post.
The incident occurred on March 14 when the Heritage Road resident was being transported, in handcuffs, from the Police Department to St. Vincent's Medical Center, CT Post said. This is when he claims Ramirez hit him with an iPad before proceeding to choke him, according to CT Post. The 44-year-old Ramirez was charged with third-degree assault and is scheduled to be in court on Aug. 26, CT Post said.
